A bildungsroman. I read this as teenager and felt it was difficult and long. Now it was a page-turner.

This is the second book in the Earthsea series, and a coming-of-age story like the first one. The protagonist Tenar is brought up as a priestess for Nameless Ones who dwell in a dark labyrinth.

It’s a short book but Tenar’s exploration of the labyrinths and her encounter with Ged are intense. Really liked the mood and enjoyed Le Guin’s way with words!
